Michelle Scarberry

Michelle Scarberry, Children’s Ministry Director

I was born in Illinois but raised here in Fort Collins. I am the oldest of 4 children. My husband, Tim and I have two active boys, Michael and Christopher. In my spare time, I enjoy scrapbooking, swimming, and going camping and fishing with my family.

My ties to this church and children’s ministries are strong. I grew up attending Sunday school and services here at CUMC. Tim and I were married and have had all three of our children baptized through this church. Michael, Christopher, and 2 of my nephews have attended and graduated from the preschool program. Since becoming a staff member in 2004, I have strengthened my connection to this church community on a new level.

It is my goal to help all of the children who participate in the programs here at CUMC feel that they are uniquely special and have an important place in God’s world.

Kevin Utter

Kevin Utter, Organist

Kevin Utter received his Bachelors and Masters of Music in Organ Performance from Colorado State University in 1985/1989 respectively, studying with Robert Cavarra. He has been with Christ United Methodist Church since August of 1995. He has been a church musician from the age of 8, playing for traditional and contemporary services, accompanying choirs and soloists, and providing other special music. He is equally comfortable with the organ, piano, and electronic keyboards and synthesizers, and also sings and plays the theremin. He believes music is very important in helping bring people together in worship and communicating truths of God which cannot be expressed in words.

Kevin is married to Valerie and has three children. His guide dog, Bingo, although not a confirmed music critic, is an excellent guide, and has no trouble listening patiently to services and rehearsals.

Donna Solverud

Donna Solverud, Music Director

I was born in Akron, Ohio, but my parents moved to Pueblo, which is where I spent my childhood. My husband, Truman, and I have three children, Tamsen, Courtney, and TJ. We love to camp and hike, and our favorite vacation spot is any beach!

I attended CSU from 1985-1989 as a vocal performance major, and in 2002 returned as a non-traditional student. I received my bachelors degree in music education in 2006 and was fortunate enough to get a teaching position at Boltz Middle School, where I student taught. I teach choir, musical theatre, and drama as well as coach football and track! I am currently working on my Master’s degree in conducting at CSU.

I was the choir and handbell director at Plymouth Congregational Church from 2001-2009. I have been the music director at CUMC since April of 2013. I feel very blessed to be a part of this wonderful congregation and hope to be here for many years to come.

Debbie Eiten

Debbie Eiten, Adminstrative Assistant

I have been married to my husband, Ken for 35 years. We have three adult children, a dog, a cat and a goldfish. Ken and I were both born and raised on farms in Iowa. We have lived in Alamosa, Rifle, Fort Collins and Loveland for a total of 24 years in the beautiful state of Colorado.

God has blessed me with the opportunity to work at CUMC as the church secretary since April 2007. My favorite part of my position is the people. The staff is fun to work with and also very supportive of each other. Members, volunteers, preschool families, and visitors are all wonderful and I enjoy getting to know every one of them. Stop in and visit me anytime!!

Roger Cornett

Roger Cornett, Custodian

I was born in South Carolina so mom and my sister could stay with her sister while dad was overseas. After he came home the family moved back to their home state of Missouri (they were high school sweethearts). We lived there where I attended kindergarten through college in the same town.

After I received my bachelor’s degree I moved to Kansas City where I worked for several years and developed a strong interest in skiing and Colorado. When I decided to do advanced studies I chose UNC because several of my undergraduate professors had done advanced work there, and it was close to the ski slopes.

I received my masters in business and was offered a position in Mississippi where I lived for about 6 years. I returned to Colorado about 30 years ago where I’ve worked for several small businesses until joining the CUMC staff as custodian the fall of 2012.

I’ve not been married but am blessed with the CUMC family.
